Dowdell, Secretary For Port Authority DOWDELL Ruth M. Dowdell Secretary for Port Authority, 81 Mrs. Ruth M. Dowdell (nee Rimann), 81, of Westfield, formerly of Union, died on Oct. 10, 2006, at home. A funeral service will be held at the Third Westminster Presbyterian Church, Elizabeth, on Saturday, Oct. 14, at 10 a.m. Friends may call on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the McCracken Funeral Home, 1500 Morris Ave., Union. Interment will be Graceland Memorial Park, Kenilworth. Born in New York City, Mrs. Dowdell lived in Union for over 30 years before moving to Westfield. She was a secretary with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey for 20 years before retiring in 1987. A member of the Womens Association at the Third Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mrs. Dowdell also served as a deacon there. She was the beloved wife of the late Paul H. Dowdell, the devoted mother of Janet Bear and dear grandmother of Elizabeth and Jessica Bear. Copyright © 2006 The Star Ledger
